The Conference Program Proceedings will be finalized soon, and we will be posting them shortly, so please be sure to check for updates regularly.

In order to help you prepare for the conference, the following instructions were sent to all presenters.

Posters Instructions:

  1. Poster formatting should follow the ‘better poster’ design, based on the work of Mike Morrison. A template, with an example of the “template in action” is available here.
  2. As detailed in the template, the ‘better poster’ design formatting highlights the main findings in the center of the poster.
  3. In addition to the findings, the poster should include Co-authors, Affiliations, an Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and References.
  4. Figures, Tables, and other means of visualizing your data and results are encouraged.
  5. If you are able, please include a QR code that can link interested attendees to a paper or website that further describes your research. If you need additional guidance on how to accomplish this, here is a resource that could be helpful.
  6. We will also request that each poster presenter prepare a 5-10 minute ‘quick talk’ of the topic and primary findings to share at the conference.
  7. Poster dimensions should be 91.4cm x 121.9cm (or 36 inches x 48 inches).
  8. Posters do not have to be mailed in advance.

Oral Presentations:

  1. All oral presentations should be no longer than 15 minutes
  2. Presentations should follow standard formatting for academic / conference proceedings (i.e., PPT or PDF files featuring Intro, Methods, Results, and Conclusions)
  3. Completed oral presentations should be sent as PPT or PDF files no later than 15 December 2023 to the following email address: Fishing-Safety@fao.org
  4. Please contact the planning committee here with any special presenter needs, i.e., video/audio, etc.
  5. Please arrive at your session early to ensure that your presentation is uploaded correctly and that embedded videos and/or audio function correctly.

Sessions/Workshops/Round Tables/Panels:

Please stick to the formatting described for each of these presentation types:

  • Regular sessions (3-4 presentations on a given theme)
  • Panels (several short presentations on a given theme followed by discussion)
  • Roundtables (discussion sessions featuring short presentations by 3 or more speakers followed by audience participation)
  • Workshops (guided sessions on a particular theme or issue led by one or two individuals).
  1. The primary presenter should ensure that all presenters are present and, that presentations are coordinated, timely, and that questions for discussion have been considered and outlined before the meeting.
  2. Completed oral presentations should be sent as PPT or PDF files no later than 15 December 2023 to the following email address: Fishing-Safety@fao.org.
  3. Please contact the planning committee here with any special presenter needs, i.e., video/audio, etc.
  4. Organize and bring any necessary presentation materials with you to support your presentation.
  5. Check the conference proceedings to verify the time allotted for your presentation and ensure that what is being proposed in your presentation conforms to the allotted time.
  6. Arrive at your presentation early to ensure all presenters, materials, presentations, and logistics are ready to go promptly.

If you have additional questions, please contact the planning committee here.
